Biography:
Sir Matthew Pinsent’s rowing achievements are numerous, from being part of the winning Oxford rowing team, beating Cambridge by a substantial distance in 1990 and 1991, to his four Olympic gold medals. The race in which Pinsent won his third gold Olympic medal, in a Coxless four along with Sir Steve Redgrave, James Cracknell MBE and Tim Foster, was named “Britain’s Greatest Sporting moment” and secured Pinsent, along with the other members of the crew, a special place in the hearts of the nation. Matthew was awarded the MBE in the 1993 New Year's Honours List and the CBE in the New Years Honours list 2000. Pinsent is considered amongst the greatest Olympians of all time and now is carving out a second successful career in the media.
