Biography:

Gary Lineker OBE is one of Leicester’s most famous exports. During his footballing career, Gary Lineker was one of the best-known and widely admired football players in the world. He is also an accomplished cricketer (MCC), golfer and snooker player. His goal total of 48 for his country places him second on the all-time list behind Sir Bobby Charlton. During his spell at Barcelona he learned Spanish and whilst at Nagoya Grampus Eight he became fluent in Japanese. Gary is now lead presenter on the long-established football programme, Match of the Day, and is also the face of the extremely popular and successful advertising campaign for Walkers Crisps. Gary was awarded an OBE in 1992.
